Today I went to Emerald City ComiCon & as always It was full of awesomeness! Pictures were taken, some video was shot (but much to make a full video out of) & much nerdity was had by all. There will be a video about the Con which will (hopefully) be a mix of the footage I shot, pictures taken & some stuff filmed in my normal place with me talking about how the con went. Look for that in the on coming days!

This is Entry 135: Emerald City 2010 Prologue
So, Emerald City ComiCon is Tomorrow. Now in prep for it I filmed something on Monday, unedited it was 45 minutes long. I was going to cut it up in a few watchable chunks & post them here. The Topic? Pretty much what what Entry 73 was just filmed. I had yet to do anything with it by midweek & by now i've decided to not do anything with it. I had thought about doing a shorter video of me packing my Bag for the Con but have decided against it. Partly due to laziness.
But I will be filming at the Convention & hopefully with that footage I can get a video or two out of it. Look for those video to come out over the next couple of weeks.

This is Entry 134: My First NES!
Now when I was growing up I guess I was bit odd for a couple of reason. But the one I'd like to talk about here is the fact that I didn't play Video Games. I knew about them, played a few at friend's houses, read some of the Nintendo Comics (still have them) but I just never really go into the whole Video Game thing. Well, a few days I bought a used Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) at a thrift store. Here's a picture of it set up in my room:
There it is hooked up to my flat screen TV which is sitting on the VCR I also recently bought. You can also see a part of the Lantern Corps Power Ring set I have.
This among other things will be taking up my free time. I've also thought about doing a few Video Game centric videos for the Blog. Come one, Come all see me fail at getting past the first stage!

This Is Entry 133: Update!
So.....
What's coming up here on this here Blog?
Well, Videos. If I get off my butt & start a doing stuff. There should be at least 2 (maybe 3) new videos in the next 2 weeks. I won't say much about them, don't want to spoil the surprise. Ok, I'll spoil one: I'll be making a video that is in a similar vein as Entry 73.
There is a Big Event coming up: Emerald City ComiCon is happening on March 13th & 14th. I will attending this function & I will be bringing my Video Camera with me to film stuff while I'm there. This will the first major outing with my camera. So, this event will most likely give me footage for a hand full of videos. I could just do one really long video but I doubt anyone would sit through the whole thing. I doubt I've even sit through that.
So, March should be a big month for Video here on the Living for Wednesday Blog.
On a sidenote: It's almost here!

This is Entry 131: Responding to Replies
This is entry/post where I'll responding to the comments left here on the blog. There are 47 comments this number edits out my responses so the number replies are actually higher but not much.
So.... Let's go all the way back to beginning.
Entry 1: My first entry with my first comment. It was made by Jack Roberts, Annabelle's scribe who I know more as Scott Bryan.Scott made a comment about welcoming me to Blogger & needing to update the links on his Blog. And yes, I was added to his links & I had added his blog to my links. Now This the one & only time that I know Scott to have visited my Blog. :(
Moving on to Entry 10 where I had my 2nd comment but first comment by someone I don't know (you;ll see this a common trend). The comment was made by Ryler32 . They made a comment about about my comment that the then new TV Show "Big Bang Theory" would not make it past a season (Why? I said I'd like it & stuff I like get cancelled quickly). Ryler said I'd be wrong & I was. Still am. This is the only comment made by Ryler.
Next comment was in Entry 12 & it was from a K.J. They made 2 comment, 1 in response to the blog entry & then they returned to comment on my reply. They did not return a third time to reply once more. :( They were commenting on the David Tennant version of "Doctor Who" wearing glasses. What brought this up? I bought a action figure on him & said I would like the option of to being able to take off the glasses. These 2 comments are the only 2 made by K.J.
The next comment was for Entry 13 & it's from my friend Joseph. This entry was a Comic Book review posting. His comment is this...
His last comment about Hillary Duff was in reference to a image I posted this entry. It was of a "drawing" made by Kyle Rayner of his former girlfriend Alex & the image look almost exactly like Hillary Duff.

The next comment was for Entry 17 & it's the first one done out of chronological order. All of the comment up & till this point have been made around the time that the post was made. The comment for Entry 17 which was posted on December 19th 2007 & the comment was made on January 25th 201. That's like 2 years later! Also, the comment was the first Anonymous comment!

The next comment was fro Entry 20 & it was from a friend Jay Boaz & he was wondering if a set of books I was talking about (The Untold Legend of The Batman) was one that he remember & it was.
Then Jay came back to comment on Entry 21. A first for any commenter (to comment on 2 different entries). He commented on the 2 different Latverian flags I presented.
This panel comes from the "Penance: Relentless" miniseries...
This was the one shown in the "Marvel Atlas". Both are Latverian flags. Both me & Jay like the one from the Penance book.
Entry 22 was the first of the post stating events that took place on the day I was born. The comment was from Stephen Crippen, he's my therapist!
The comment was made injunction with Entry 28 & it was from Plotter & they already got their own post about their comment in another post but I don't remember which it is.
Now comes the weirdest replies to a posting. It's part of Entry 30, a perfectly normal entry about Comics I had read. But I got 11 comments to it. Most of the text I can't read because I don't think it's in english & their are links to other places & most of the links have the words "Levitra" or "Cialis" in them. This the first time I will solicited male enhancement drugs but it won't be the last.
The next comments came in Entry 38 & that post has pictures of my time at Emerald City ComicCon 2008. There are 2 comments & they are from 2 people both named Anonymous. Also both comments were made in December 2009 (#1 on Dec. 4th & #2 on Dec 25th).

The comments came in Entry #42. It's more "junk mail" from a anonymous person & is also out of time order (post from June 19th 2008 & reply from February 8th 2010). They want me to check out their Emo blog because they have added more stuff! Uh... no.
The Entry with a reply #54 & it's from someone I know. It's Tom F.! He was responding to a quiz I took & He also took the quiz, too. We got different results.

In Entry #56: Tom returns to tell that I've been drawn into a holiday theme comic strip he did.
Entry #62 It's my birthday again so I'm made a another list of events that happened on my birthday. There are 2 anonymous comments. The entry is January 2009 & the comments are January 2010. Both comments are in English, broken English but English none the less.
It's nice to know that even people I don't know appreciate the time I put into my posts.
Entry #68 is an entry to say that I'm going to post some helpful tips for going to a Comic Book Convention. I was doing this in conjunction for the then upcoming Emerald City Comic Con 2009. My friend Caleb McGary posted a reply:

The next comment is one I find kind of funny. Not really what it says but how I see why it was posted. In Entry 88 I posted a picture of Harley Quinn from the video game "Arkham Asylum" & the reply is about male enhancement drugs. :)
The comment was in #107 & it's Caleb once more but under the name of arch3r, He was wondering about a comment I made on Facebook.
The next 2 comments are from Entry #109. One is from Caleb not not the one from before this one is my brother-in-law (or At least I think it was him but it could Caleb McGary again). I made about comment in response my entry about me not posting anything while I was down under. The other comment was of a similar nature but from an anonymous person.
Entry #113 is another anonymous comment wanting me to get some male enhancement drugs. I don't know why all these people want me to get some of these drugs. I might get a complex from this. :)
Entry #114 has a comment from a person who I think has the best name of all my commenters. It's Monitor Bob! He also left a pretty fun comment:
I'm glad that the multiverse is a fan of me, I'm a long time fan of it. aAccording to Monitor Bob I exist within the DC Multiverse, The Marvel Multiverse has more then 52 Earths. As for the worlds he mentioned: I have seen a female version of myself, seen a version of myself as an animal. But not the one where I am the leader of Russa, wonder if it's a country like Russia or maybe a country of potatoes? . I do know of one where I am the President of Canada.

Dandelion wants me to know they are not spaming me like the other 2 comments were.

This is Entry 130: An Update & Comments about Replies!
So, there has been a week or two with some stuff I have said have now become invalid. But long time readers should know that anytime I give dates for things I'm going post here they should think of those dates as general guidelines for when I going to post something. If I say I'll post something in "a week" they should now that means anytime between that week & the end of time. :)
But I do plan on do those things I mentioned in Entry 129. A couple more things about the forth coming entry where I comment on my commenters: I may utterly ignore all junk mail replies unless they are really odd & I do have some that are that or at least amusing. Also, the commenters like that have a chance of becoming members of The Jim Nation!
So... How many comments do I have? 47. I have 1 post/entry which has 11 replies for some reason. Most of the entries have 3 comments are the most. But a large majority have no comments. :(

This post is to tell you about what is upcoming here.
- Tomorrow, I will be attending a small Comic Book Convention (Comic Book Swap Meets as I like to call them). I will bringing my camera & be filming a bit there so look for that video sometime in early to mid February.
- The third & last part of "Comic Book Backlog" will be posted sometime in Early February also.
- Also in February: I might start up that "really super cool & awesome thing" I've mentioned in past posts. With the videos I've been doing you've already sort of seen glimpses of what that thing is but the not the full awesomeness of it.
- Another things I've been thinking about is commenting on my Commentors. After recently finding out that people are actually commenting on my old posts I've gone back to see what people have said. Yes, there is a bit of junk mail but there are some odd comments there & I want to say something about. I've also found out who my follower & where they are from surprised me. Look for that post next week.

This is Entry 128: My Wizard Rant
Today in the mail I got the latest issue of Wizard, the comics maga.. uh.. the magazine of comics, entertainment and pop culture.
*sighs & rolls eyes*
I've been reading the magazine since Issue 90 (The issue I got today was #222) & have read pretty much every issue since that point. But today something I read might just have turned me off the magazine. I've noticed a change in the magazine over the years. The page count went down, regular segments were done away with or diluted to a point of being almost pointless, the lay out changed, they started to add more & more non comic related content. I read Wizard for Comic Book news so the "Secrets of last season of Lost revealed here!" don't interest me. If I wanted that I'd read Entertainment Weekly, People or a number of other entertainment magazines that are out there.
I read Wizard since they are the only one out there. They corner the market & should act like it! Others have tried to come & take some of their readership (Comic Foundry was a valiant effort!). But they have all failed. The only thing that has taken reading away from Wizard that then Wizard sucking has been the rise of the Internet & the ability of comic book readers to get their own news. But Wizard knows that! Every issues for the last few months has had a... uh... thing on it's cover asking you to check of geekchicdaily.com. Having this on the cover seems to me that Wizard it's self doesn't believe in it's self.
"Hey, you could buy this 6 dollar magazine to read some out of date news or just go online & for free read the most up to date news out there!"
I recently found a few old copies of Wizard (Issues # 23, 47 & 49). In looking through them I say so much promise & knowing where they were going I felt warm in side. Now nostalgia might be factored a bit in here but those issues were good, I might dare to say Awesome! It was a "Guide to Comics", as the cover to Issue #49 says, with news on what is upcoming, out there now (Now being the Mid 1990's) & what had gone on before. #23 has a really nicely done article on Captain Marvel (Shazam, not Kree). After looking over those my mind turned to thoughts of what Wizard was now. The warm feeling inside was no longer there. Almost everything that made the Wizard for me is no longer there.
So, what brought about this rant? What was so bad in Issue #222 that made be what to stop reading the magazine all together or at least not renew my subscription?
As many people know that after the latest Marvel event "Siege" that all the Avengers books (Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengers, New Avengers, Avengers: The Initiative) are being cancelled. At the writing of this "Article", it was not known what would replace these books so Wizard gives some suggestions from possible teams.
*sigh*
There are 5 proposed teams, all with stupid names. In reading the "thinking" behind each team line-up. It seems like the writer (who's name is not presented with the article) has only a passing knowledge of the present day Marvel Universe. Now I know it might be hard for someone to read every book a company puts out there. But these lists are presented in a magazine that claims to know about Comics & at least with me, the readers probably know what is going on in the Comics. So, when you present that Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) should be on a team, my left eyebrow goes up in puzzlement.
Why?
Well, for one thing: She's Dead! She has been for a year or two & died in a pretty major way, She being one of the causalities of "Secret Invasion"! Now I know that death in comics isn't permanent & Janet might come back to the land of the living post-Siege. But I doubt Wizard all what Marvel has planned post-Siege. So... I, for one, would think that knowing who's Alive or Dead would factor into my decisions of team line-ups.
2 other Team line-ups that makes we wondering how much thinking when into it are the "Avengers International" & "Astro-Avengers" branches.

Now I don't really have problem who the team line-up from the Avengers International are (Iron man, Vision, Wonder Man, Hercules, Namor, Pete Wisdom, Black Widow, Black Panther, Sunfire, Radioactive Man & Ursa Major). But the thinking of "Hey, I liked The Justice League International so lets do that with the Avengers!" seems not so cool. Also, the fact that it seems like need to make sure they have pretty much every Avengers who isn't an US citizen on the team seems kind of cheap.Another thing: The team is too darn big, if you cut out half the team, I think it could work. Also, maybe not make the entire basis for the team be something the Distinguished Competition did & has success with.
The other team: Astro-Avengers seems to have no really thinking other then "The Avengers frequently in Space so why not have a team based in space?" Ok, but 1. Didn't they already do & have a much cooler name? &2. isn't that what the Guardians of the Galaxy already do pretty much the same thing? For the team line-up of Captain America (it doesn't say which one), Noh-Varr, Black Bolt, Adam Warlock, Beta Ray Bill, Nova, Silver Surfer & Skaar: to me it just seems like a mishmash cosmic characters with Cap thrown in to make it "THE AVENGERS... IN.... SPACE!" Now I don't know if the writer is actually reading comics that current feature these characters but I kind of doubt that this team would even form. Cap might show up & a few of the hose might join up just because Cap is there but there a few others that his presence doesn't hold that much sway with them (Skaar being one of them.)
Now on to to the one that really cheese me off. The one that set off this rant, This writers' choice for the main Avengers team. It's about half way down the text piece that I stop & my eyebrow raises. They say that the team needs a brainiac but they can't go with Hank Pym is "so unstable". Wha?
Now I know that in the past that Hank has been at time a few issues short of a complete run but has the writer of said article been reading Mighty Avengers (my favorite Avengers book out of the bunch): Hank has been kicking ass! Now I don't know if he's unstable but if he does he's got it under control & doing some great thing with it (Infinite Avengers Mansion anyone?) So, I further down the piece & they are still referring Noh-Varr as Captain Marvel.

I guess this writer had not read the Dark Avengers annual from a few months back wear He break away from the team, gets a new costume & codename (Protector). Now what I know of him is limited but given his past experience with "The Avengers" I doubt he'd be all that willing to join up with another one.
Oh.. For those wondering you else is on this team. They are: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Beast, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Vision, Spider-Woman & Hellstorm.
Now one might be wondering if I have a such an adverse reaction to this why not send a letter, an e-mail to Wizard, make a comment on their Messageboards, etc. I could do that. But at least with the Messageboard option I might start a flame war which I do want to do since almost every time they are pointless & go no where. So, I've made my option know here on my blog & I felt a bit better about it.
One last thing: In thinking about the lists, they don't seem like a thing I'd see in a magazine, any magazine. It seems more like something I'd see here. Not, my blog. But here as in The internet. The list seemed like a Fan wrote it & posted it to a Message board.
Will I continue to read Wizard: Yes. I've got a subscription. :)
Will I resubscribe? That's a different story. One for later on.

I've been reading the magazine since Issue 90 (The issue I got today was #222) & have read pretty much every issue since that point. But today something I read might just have turned me off the magazine. I've noticed a change in the magazine over the years. The page count went down, regular segments were done away with or diluted to a point of being almost pointless, the lay out changed, they started to add more & more non comic related content. I read Wizard for Comic Book news so the "Secrets of last season of Lost revealed here!" don't interest me. If I wanted that I'd read Entertainment Weekly, People or a number of other entertainment magazines that are out there.
I read Wizard since they are the only one out there. They corner the market & should act like it! Others have tried to come & take some of their readership (Comic Foundry was a valiant effort!). But they have all failed. The only thing that has taken reading away from Wizard that then Wizard sucking has been the rise of the Internet & the ability of comic book readers to get their own news. But Wizard knows that! Every issues for the last few months has had a... uh... thing on it's cover asking you to check of geekchicdaily.com. Having this on the cover seems to me that Wizard it's self doesn't believe in it's self.
"Hey, you could buy this 6 dollar magazine to read some out of date news or just go online & for free read the most up to date news out there!"
I recently found a few old copies of Wizard (Issues # 23, 47 & 49). In looking through them I say so much promise & knowing where they were going I felt warm in side. Now nostalgia might be factored a bit in here but those issues were good, I might dare to say Awesome! It was a "Guide to Comics", as the cover to Issue #49 says, with news on what is upcoming, out there now (Now being the Mid 1990's) & what had gone on before. #23 has a really nicely done article on Captain Marvel (Shazam, not Kree). After looking over those my mind turned to thoughts of what Wizard was now. The warm feeling inside was no longer there. Almost everything that made the Wizard for me is no longer there.
So, what brought about this rant? What was so bad in Issue #222 that made be what to stop reading the magazine all together or at least not renew my subscription?
As many people know that after the latest Marvel event "Siege" that all the Avengers books (Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengers, New Avengers, Avengers: The Initiative) are being cancelled. At the writing of this "Article", it was not known what would replace these books so Wizard gives some suggestions from possible teams.
*sigh*
There are 5 proposed teams, all with stupid names. In reading the "thinking" behind each team line-up. It seems like the writer (who's name is not presented with the article) has only a passing knowledge of the present day Marvel Universe. Now I know it might be hard for someone to read every book a company puts out there. But these lists are presented in a magazine that claims to know about Comics & at least with me, the readers probably know what is going on in the Comics.
