This is Entry 100!

You thought it wouldn't happen. You said to yourself "Brian will never post that photo!" But HA! Here it is!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Way back in Entry 9 which was made on August 29, 2007: I made Brownies! I also took a picture of it & made a promise to one day post a picture of it & today is that day! On a side note: The cooktop you see in in the photo no longer exists in the house I live in. It was taken out earlier this year.

Why did I finally get around to post this picture? Well, This is the 100th entry of MyBlog. Yes, it's taken me almost 2 years to do so but we are here at the this momentous occasion.

For this Entry I have a few things planned out.
1. Post Brownie picture. *DONE*
2. Tell how this Blog came to be.
3. Do a Blog Recap! All 100 entries: The High points, the low points & everything in between!
And Lastly:
4. Tell about what's come up in for conceivable future!

So, you ready! I am!

How MyBlog came to be

It was Tuesday, August 7, 2007 when this Blog came online. But before that I had been giving some thought to start a Blog for some time. I don't remember how long (My first entry says a few week). As I've been known to & still do: I was read lots of comics & didn't have really a way to share what I had read other then discuss it with my none comic book reading parents. I was a member of a online writing forum & a way to post something without really writing a whole story. I started to do comic book reviews there, much like the one seen here. I did this for a short while then decided to bite the bullet & after a short Internet search I set up shop here on Blogger. My original requirements were that the service had to be free & easy to use which I found Blogger to be for the most part. There have a been a few minor annoyances but they have been most do to some screw up on my end. :)

So, I made a short post which started off 1 of trademarks of this Blog: The entry's title stating which Entry Number it was. This has a pretty simple origins to them. It was inspired by another blog: the Blog of the late Mike Weiringo. All this Entries would be signed off with this phrase & since I didn't really know what to title this entry I went with that: This is Entry 1. It seemed like a good enough title as anything. When I did Entry 2 I was yet at a lose as what to title that entry so I called it: This Entry 2 & it went from there. I do get a bit of a giggle at the Blog Archive which makes it easy for a visitor to look over past entries but all the person gets is a long list of "This is Entry *insert Number here*". :)

The Whole Darn Blog!

In that Entry I said:

Welcome to this little corner of the Blog O' Sphere.

I've thought about creating a Blog from sometime [like a few weeks]. I don't really have anything truly earth shattering to share with y'all. But, I've got some stuff that I might like to share with you so hence this Blog entitled: MyBlog

What will most likely see on this thing we call Blog: My thoughts on stuff. Yeah. I know. Real specific, Brian. What these thoughts will most likely be about are things of no real conscience like TV [which I watch a whole lot of] & Comic Books [which I read a whole lot of]. There might be other things, I don't know. Lay off. This is only my first post.

-Brian

I've pretty much followed this: Nothing truly Earth shattering just me rambling on about TV, Comic Books, Movie & other stuff. If you notice I didn't sign that post off with the phrase "Stay Jazzy": that comes later. Also, this is one of the few Entries that got a reply to it, It was from a Friend & he never replied to my Blog ever again. But then He doesn't like me anymore.

- Entry 2 I was just filling space.
- Entry 3 told of the passing of Mike Wieringo.
- Entry 4 we get to what over 50 entries are about: Comic Books! If you look at that post: I don't "review" all that many comics & actually give some details about the books which is what I don't do much any more. I've gotten lazy. I put review in quotes since I don't think it's my job to review the books, I just say what I liked about the books & move on. I make a prediction about what will happen in future issues of the "Booster Gold" comic book.
- Entry 5 & 6 are about Podcasts which most I still subscribe to (but am way behind on episodes of Around Comics).
- Entry 7 is about Comics with the title with "The Comic Book Cavalcade" where Entry 4 was titled "Brian's Comic Book Round-up! YEE-HA!". My comic entries have used both over the years. I might have used more but I think those are the 2 I keep trading between.
- Entry 8 is my first Movie Review which I call "Brian on the Aisle" & reviewed the Fantastic Four sequel.
- Entry 9 is where I say I made Brownies & took a picture of them. You know how long it took to get that picture up. :)
- Entry 10 is a my Fall TV preview where I say what shows I'd be watching that Fall which 10of those Shows have now been cancelled. Also which this post I got my first random reply. The replier reprimands for saying that "Big Bang Theory" will be cancelled by the end of the first season. I know & we all know that it wasn't so I was wrong. Also, that person never replied ever again.
- Entry 11 I review the new TV Shows I've seen, Do the first of the really short Comic Book reviews that have become the norm for the blog & say I bought a Dr. Zoidberg action figure. Still no "Stay Jazzy" sign off.
- Entry 12 is almost a complete repeat of 11 in style: Review New Shows & New Comics. I also bought a Doctor Who figure & make a comment about his glasses which gets me my 2nd random commenter & they even replied to my reply. But again never replied ever again!
- Entry 13 I go back to longer comic reviews, no special title but I started to add in scanned images which I've stopped since my Scanner freaks out at me which I try to do more then 2 scans at a time. This Entry gets me my 2nd comment from someone I know! He also never replied ever again. I'm noticing a trend.
- Entry 14 is now a broken picture link. I did have a picture there at one time, it was a Quiz result if I remember correctly.
- Entry 15 is a post saying I went to a Comic Book "Swap Meet" & bought stuff which a review entry to follow.
- Entry 16 Comic Book reviews with Pictures! But I didn't review the Comics for the Con.
- Entry 17 much like 16. But this is the first post to sign off with the phrase "Stay Jazzy". The origin behind the phrase it was just something that popped into my head & though it was good to end the post with. So, I still think & continue to do so.
- Entry 18 is my one & only review by a fellow I know from that Writer's Forum I mentioned earlier.
- Entry 19 is the first entry from 2008 & the first time I use the term "Jim" on the Blog. It comes from a event I went during that Summer of '07. It was an movie shown outside & before the Movie was an MC doing some announcements, hosting a few games, etc. He started off with saying Hello, the audience said Hello back & then he asked them their name & people yelled out names. The one the heard was Jim so even time He started off addressing the crowd He called them Jim. I liked that so I started to do that. So everyone how replies to the Blog becomes a member of The Jim Nation: There are like less them 10 people who are listed members. :) What is Entry 19 about? Comic Books. I also continue to hype that I will be reviewing the Comics I bought at the Convention a few months earlier some time in the future.
- Entry 20 is when I do. I only waited 4 months. This a time frame that has become more & more standard. I also get a comment from a friend who had only returned to comment there & then never said anything on my Blog ever again.
- Entry 21 Comic Book Reviews! This is the Entry where that Friend returned to comment.
- Entry 22 celebrates my Birthday! My Therapist comments for his only time.
- Entry 23 Comic Book Reviews!
- Entry 24 is an entry saying I have stuff to post I just haven't done it yet. These entries seem to pop up more & more as time goes on.

This is Entry 99: Looking forward to 100 & The Pull List #5

So... Here it is. We are now 1 step away from Entry 100. I've been thinking of what be that posting. It may be one of the longer posts since I'll be pretty much going over all the posts doing a big ol' recap of the entire blog. I'll be sharing stories anout how the Blog came to be, what the thinking behind certain things is ('Stay Jazzy', Jim, This is Entry..., etc.): there is a thinking to all this even if it might not seem like it. :) There will be pictures! I might even do a video, not sure if I will but I might. Look for that sometime. It might not be up soon since I have work to contend with & I've got family coming over for the next 3 weeks so I'll probably be spending a chunk of "free" time with them.

Also as I mentioned last time I've got like a dozen or so Entry indeas & I'll probably go more in depth on those in Entry 100.

And you may have noticed that after almost 2 years I've changed my User picture. It's now a concerned looking Iron Man.

Moving on....

Continuing a new feature on MyBlog Here is my "pull list" for the week & seeing that it is Wednesday I can give you as short review on each book. (It will be real short since I'm saving my real review for a later post which mostly likely will be some where between Entry 102-110.)

- Batman #688: Nice. Some great moments.
- Booster Gold #22: Interesting as always.
- Green Lantern #43: The prologue to the "Blackest Night" event which looks to be awesome!
- Superman: World of New Krypton #5 of 12: a cool issue.
- Uncanny X-Men: First Class #1 of 8: ok. Not sure I'll pick up the rest of the series.
- The Unwritten #3: kick ass! One of the better books I'm reading.
- Wednesday Comics #1 of 12: beautiful. Cool idea. Liked half the stories. Will pick up rest of the series.
- Batman: The Black Notebook: ominous cover gaives away to stories from my favorite Bat-Decade: The 1950's!

Until next time Stay Jazzy!

This is Entry 95: The Future of Videos!

This post is to update you all about the status of further videos posted to this here blog o' mine. Well, they probably won't happen anytime soon. For a couple of reason. Two actually:

1. Time. For all the great ideas I've had over the last few weeks for video they would all take up a big bunch of time that I don't know if I have. Also with the videos It's just not making them, it's also the editing them. Yeah, I know. But hear me out: with my text reviews: I type them out, lose an hour (or 3) & they are done. With the Videos to make them sound good I'd have to write of a script, plan out what effects I would want to use, which images to use, scan those into my computer, maybe make a few alterations to those. Then I'd record myself. After that then add in pictures, text stuff & maybe some more audio (music, voice overs, etc.) & I've lost a whole day (or more).

2. Equipment. I don't have any beyond what is built into the computer I use. In fact I'm using it right now. :) Which works as evidence by the video a few posts down the blog. But It's very limited in it's scope: there is no zoom beyond me getting closer or moving away. The screen is small I can move around all that much. Also, I can't take it anywhere. The computer is just to darn bulky & needs to be plugged in to work so anywhere away from a power source is out of the question.

This means I'll be returning to my text reviews for the time being. Now this doesn't mean I've given up the idea doing videos. The one I posted was a test to basically see if I could make one & I did! Now comes the part where I try to see if I can make one good! Good as in is not crap, flows smoothly from thing to another, I don't look or sound bad. Basically looks half way decent. This will require some research. Also, some trail & error. I made 5 or so test videos before I made one I posted. So... this means that during the next year (MyBlog started in August so that demarks the the years for the blog) I'll probably put a video or two. Hopefully they won't be crap. :) I have also given some passing thought to actually buying a video camera which would require some money (that I'm saving for another big thing) but mostly if I got one some trail & error of me figuring out how the darn thing works. :)

Also, we are 6 from Entry 100! I'll probably make it some time later this month. Look for it!

That's all I got for this posting. Until next time: Stay Jazzy!

This is Entry 94: Brian on the Aisle #4

This is Entry 93: The Pull List

Well in the video I did say the next would be more text related & here it is!

I've heard some comments on my video, not here & as you can see it still at 0 comments but at another site I frequent for which I linked the posters back here & from the replies there they seemed to like it. Also when I've brought up the my video in real life (I went 2 parties this week which is like odd since I don't normally go to any parties in any week) & what I want to do with them people seemed pretty jazzed about. So, later this week: I may or may not have my first real video up! So, stay tuned for that!

Just an FYI: Here the Comic Books on my "pull list" for the week:
- Action Comics #878
- Batman # 687
- Booster Gold #21
- Doctor Who: Autopia
- Fantastic Four #567
- Final Crisis Hardcover
- The Flash: Rebirth #3 of 5
- JSA vs. Kobra: Engines of Faith #1 of 6
- Lockjaw & The Pet Avengers #2 of 4
