This is Entry 15: Con Prologue

There is a big ol' Comic Book review post that is forth coming. I'm not sure if I want to wait & add in what will be this week's books. I have last weeks (which were 3 books) but there is also the books I picked up at the Seattle Comicard Convention yestarday. I got some wonderfull stuff! Now, I would have reviews for you to read but I just got burnt out from reading (What? I know, I was kind of shocked, too.) So, that post will be forth coming maybe early November (which is later this week).

I've also given some thought to making a post about Me. I know, I know: every post is about me, but this post would give you my Comic Book credentials, in fact that might be what I'll call it. Look for that later.

Well, I don't really have anything else to say. So, check back later this week there should be awesomeness!

This is Entry 13: Quick Hits #4

Will this post be bad luck? I don't know. Let's find out together!

Well, Jim (as you may remember that is my blanket name for you, my readers): It's almost been one month since I made a post here. The reason is was that I was working 2 jobs. One during the week & one during the weekend (Since Friday was both I work most of my waking hours on that day). So, I made a decision & quite one. I now have my weekends back to do with what I please! I've now taking this chance to update MyBlog! I've a big ol' pile of comics & at least one thing about TV to tell you about.

------------

Comics!

Last week, before I went to work, a local comic book store was having a sell so of course I went & did muchly fill up on the savings. So, that is why this time's Comic book round-up might be a little fuller then normal or it may not be.

DC Comics:

- The Brave and the Bold #7, I normally don't pick up this book but there were 2 reason why I did this issue. 1) It's co-stars Power Girl, one of my favorite DC Characters & 2) George Perez drew the issue.

- I had a minor Nerdgasms when I heard about this book coming out & had another when I saw the 1st issue out on the shelf. The Book: Captain Carrot and the Final Ark. Yup! a talking animal book. This sort of think appeals to my inner geek at it's basest level. Sidenote: The Volume 1 of series is coming out in trade paperback. I know what's going on my Christmas wishlist!

- Next is a book I bought just so that I could Blog about one panel. The Book: Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Parallax. The panel: this one.

The back story is that the parasite Parallax is tormenting Kyle Rayner from inside his own mind & we see drawings of people Kyle had loved (His mom, Donna Troy & Jade). Those all come later & The first girl we see is "Alex", his childhood sweetheart. My question is: Am I the only person who thinks that she looks a little to much like Hillary Duff for it to be an accident?

Moving on....

-Back in issue #52 of the yearlong series by the same name we saw the DC Multiverse return. With it we got a glimse of the new Earth 3 & with The Search for Ray Palmer: Crime Society get get even more info like the main team is no longer called The Crime Syndicate of America they are now the Crime Society. I really like the book, I won't mind seeing more from this world. 2 sidenotes: 1) Now the other earth that from 52 #52 that got me excited was the return of Earth 2: I'll be on the look out for a book with that in it. 2) I am not reading Countdown some anything that's happening in that book I'm unaware of. So, Earth 2 might of shown up there & we might know about Earth 3: I don't know. I'll wait until it's all over & read it like I'm reading 52 in a collected format (the only single issue I own of the series is the last issue).

-A new book that I'm enjoying (Booster Gold) gave me hope for another book that I enjoy. On the fifth page of art, the first page of art after the first page of ad's is this panel:

In the upper right hand corner is a panel off, Doctor 13 & other characters from Doctor 13: Architecture & Morality, a book I highly recommend: I rocks much more then most stuff I've read rescently & I read alot! The scene presented is not in the book so does this mean there is another Doctor 13 miniseries on the way or did the people behind Booster Gold also like that book & wanted to give a nod to it? I don't know, I hope the first is true.

Marvel Comics
:

-What? What's that sound? Is the sound of the on coming death of a comic book? I think so from the way certain things are written in Exiles & from what I've heard: The book is folding up sometime after it's hundredth issue. They have a commpanion book called: X-Men: Die by the Sword when the Exiles & Excalibur from the main Marvel Universe meet up (which is intresting since each team has a former member of the other team on them currently).

- 2 long coming books that I had to think hard about what was going on in each book: Runaway & The Mighty Avengers. I still like the books but they are massive delays between issues. The delays with MA is even more funny since every issue has taken place on one day. Another comment about MA it reminds me vaguely about Marvel comics from the 70's it's has some of the same feelings (at least for me) to it.

- Super-Villian Team-Up: MODOK'S 11 is a great book. I'm not sure how if I can put into words much I like. It's well written & well drawn. The story has many a twist & turn. Go out, get the books & read them!

- Heroes for Hire #14, they are still tying into the World War Hulk storyline. I wish they'd get over with it. Not sure if I like the book anymore, it was fine up to the WWH tie-in. I'll give it a few more issue until I may my final verdict.

-One of the things I liked that came out of Civil War is Penance & he has his own miniseries (Peneance: Relentless), with this issue (#2) it looks like he's off to go.. well off Nuke, the man responible for helping start off the whole Civil War. But, I don't it's so clear cut. I await the next issue.

I'm only about half way through my pile. So, 1 new book & then back issues. Then, 1 TV thing.

New Book: The Umbrella Academy. Pick it up. It's good!

Ok, so now...

Back Issues:

- Adventures in the DCUniverse: I really like the art of John Dalaney, the guy behind the look of this series. It's cartoony enough.

- I picked up The Avengers (volume 1) Annual #11 for 2 pages in the back. Why? Those two pages are the official Avengers Charter. Sidenote: Hulk has some nice handwriting.

- I picked up The Avengers (volume 1) #194 because of the cover blurb: Ever wonder what the Avengers do on their day off? See for yourself in "INTERLUDE!". I'm kind of a sucker for down time issues & this was a good one. We get some nice pathos about Vision in this.

- I picked up The Avengers (volume 1) # 280 because of the cover image:

I just had to find out what happens inside. It's a nice retrospective of the team through their faithful servant's eyes.

- Next is one I just bough because the covers was just so odd. It's The Avengers (Volume 1) #214:

It's not all that great of an issue. It's is an odd one.

- I picked up 2 Hulk issues: #291 & #469. 214 is a sad look back on the life of General Thadeus "Thunderbolt" Ross & 469 Hulk fights the Super-Adaptoid.

------------

Now, that one TV thing. I've been enjoying the show "Bionic Woman" but I had missed last week's episode. I was sad but I knew you could see the episodes for "free" on NBC.com. I went & qued up the episode & watched. I did have to same commercial 4 times but it was a mostly free episode. The video matched up quite nicely with the audio, there was a slight delay but nothing to annoying. I may try it again if I ever missan NBC show again.

------------

Well, that's it. Until next time, Jim: Stay Jazzy!
